The Author: Clinton B. Allison is Professor of Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma in History and Philosophy of Education. A former high school social studies and college history teacher, Dr. Allison has taught history of education for over twenty years. He has published books and articles in the history of southern education, the history of teacher education and the social foundations of education.
