Meet the Author of "The WOW Experience Devotionals"

LaToya Grimes is a worshiper, teacher, and lover of all things God. She is what you might call a “daughter” of the church in that she was blessed to grow up in a home and family that believed that God is to have first place in every area of life. As LaToya pursued God, He pursued her-and the result was the gift of a worshipper’s heart. Her trademark ministry, Worshippers Emerge, educates and empowers other worshippers about authentic praise and worship.

What is the title(s) of your books?
The WOW Experience Devotionals for the heart of a worshiper from the heart of a worshiper

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I never wanted to be a writer as writing was an area that I struggled with all of my life.  However, I journal everything. As I was going through transition in my life God told me to begin to write from the heart of a worshipper.

How long does it take you to write a book?
This project took me 8 solid months

What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
When writing my goal was to make sure that I had all of my titles (entries) mapped out which by that point I had an idea of which way I wanted to flow.  I researched and studies the scriptures and just began to write.  There were times I had a title, but God would lead me another way.  During the process I tried to write 2 to 3 entries a week.

Are you self-published?
I am not.  I worked with StartWrite Publishing Company

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
The idea and information for this devotional came life experience and from the word God.  One day God spoke to me WOW –Wonders of worship, Well of Worship and Wide open worship.  As I began to experience certain life changing things in life as a worshipper and a worship leader, I started to understand the purpose of the WOW. I began to study and really love it out.  I began to understand that as a worshipper we have to stay in the position and posture of a worshipper.  That life’s happening should not change or alter how we stay in God’s presence.  That is your worship that not only saves you, heal you and bring you to a place of freedom but it allows HIM to wow us in all things.

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

This is my first project

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That I could do it!  That my thoughts made sense not just to me but are truly inspiring others.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite and why?
This is my first and right now my favorite !!!

Do you have any suggestions to help the inspired writers become a better writer? If so, what are they?
If I had any suggestion to help the inspired writer it would be to write your vision, purpose(research) and plan and then JUST WRITE. Don’t edit while writing.

Have a few people read over it (professional editor and a truly honest friend/family) Take their advice and professional editor suggestions but DO NOT change the vision that God gave you. Stay focused and don’t be so hard on yourself.  Don’t quit and don’t rush yourself.  Most of all ENJOY the process.  Those are your words in print!

Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

I hear from readers often, which has solidified my WHY.  I have heard things like it has brought healing to their heart and their emotions. They are learning how to handle things properly instead of in their feelings. This has brought them closer to God. They are inspired. Thanking me for my transparency.  They are taking notes and applying to their lives and They want more! My favorite was from a non believer who said if this is what knowing God is then ill take it.  I didn’t force the bible or God down the reader’s throats. It’s very practical and although they are not saved they felt a close connection to God by reading the entries.  He’s read it twice.

What is your target market, who is your ideal reader?
My target audience was for the worshipper, anyone who has the heart of God.  A true heart of a worshipper.  Especially those in ministry position.

When will we expect your next book to be published, inquiring minds want to know?
I’m looking to release a new project 2022
